Rules Of The School

  • St. Mary’s school is co-educational, and the medium of instruction English.
  • Only English should be spoken within the premises.
  • Children are expected to reach school in time by 9.15 a.m. and late coming is discouraged.
  • Parents and Guardians are not permitted to go to classrooms or contact the teachers during school hours.
  • No leave of absence is granted except for grave and valid reasons, under unavoidable circumstances, absentees should produce a leave letter from the parents and medical certificates for long leave.
  • Parents are expected to be in touch with school authorities. They sign the Progress report at the school when they have intimated the publication of the Quarterly and Half-yearly results.
  • Gold ornaments are not permitted and if it is lost the school is not responsible.
  • Every Pupil must have a copy of the school calendar which should be brought to school daily.
  • Running about and screaming in the classroom and Varanda is strictly forbidden.
  • Scribbling on walls, trees and furniture is strictly forbidden, waste paper and skins of fruits should be thrown into the basket and not on the ground.
  • Parents and Guardians are not allowed to see the children or interview teachers during school hours without the written permission of the Principal.
  • Any communication, request or complaint made by the parents should be addressed to the Principal and not to the class teacher.
  • Irregular attendance, habitual want of application obscenity in the words of acts, insubordination to teachers, and any kind of cheating or serious misconduct, or any habit or behaviour objectionable to the school are sufficient reasons for dismissal of a pupil.
  • A child suffering from contagious diseases will not be allowed to attend the class.
  • The school premises should be kept neat and tidy.
  • Pupils of one class are not allowed to enter other classrooms.
  • Money, articles (Binoculars, cassettes, CD’s, toys, video games, Mobile Phones, cameras, pen drive etc.) should not be brought to school.
  • For birthdays, students can wear colourful dresses. The child may contribute a book to the school library as a lasting and benefitting gift.
  • Students should be responsible for the safekeeping of his/her belongings. It is suggested that their names be inscribed on articles like lunch boxes, school bags and umbrellas. Students are not allowed to bring valuable items like gold ornaments.
  • Students are responsible to the school authorities, not only for their conduct in school but also for their general behaviour outside.
  • Perfect discipline should be maintained during tests. Any malpractice will be dealt with seriously.
  • All students should be particularly careful not to throw any papers, seeds, sweet wrappers etc. on the floor or in the compound and through the windows.
